My name is Stefanie Duck. I grew up in Michigan and moved to Iredell County in 2012. I am a registered nurse and work with medically fragile children overseeing their care within their home and manage nurses/CNA’s working with them. I am a mother of two boys TJ and Zach. Both of my son’s have grown up in Iredell County and attended Iredell Statesville Schools. Zach graduated in 2022 from South Iredell High School and is now a junior in college at App State University and majoring in psychology. Unfortunately, TJ passed away 3 years ago on Feb 17th, 2022, of a Fentanyl Poisoning just 8 months after graduating from South Iredell High School and securing employment at Walmart Distribution Center. He is forever 18 and extremely missed by all who love him. This tragedy in our lives has led me on a mission to work to start a non-profit in TJ’s name called TJ’s Story Lives On. The purpose of my group is to help raise awareness in hopes of saving another family from going through what we have. I have participated in speaking to the school board at ISS schools to help get Narcan available by use of the school nurses/first responders in every school in ISS district. I have also been to Raliegh to speak to our legislators regarding Narcan in all schools in NC, went to Washington DC to lobby and march in awareness events in both 2023 and 2024. I am supported by my family and wonderful fiancé, Robby Lemmons, who attends events, rallies, and they are always by my side to support me.
